I’ve been slacking this last month on my updates to the blog … sorry! I have a number of shots I’m working through as I’ve been booking many stock and commercial shoots. Yesterday Renee and I setup a photowalk for the SLC Photo Club at Red Butte Gardens. There was plenty of killer nature subjects throughout the garden and it was a perfect blue sky day dabbled with puffy clouds. This was one of my favorite shots which I took.

ROADTRIP! This last weekend Renee and I loaded up and spent a 4 day weekend in St. George and surroundings areas with another two dozen photographers shooting stock images all over the place. It was a killer trip and we got lots of great shots.

The above image I snapped Sat morning while shooting from a mansion overlooking Snow Canyon at Sunrise. Thanks go to Paul for letting us take over his $6million and change home for the morning with our crew and models.

Took this shot of World Champion Brinton Gunderson on his snakeboard flying high this last week. Brinton was pulling all kinds of awesome air tricks, flips and general rockin moves! You can check out some more of Brinton in action on YouTube at http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ed6uutg0W_o&feature=related

Had a great time shooting Kate with Renee at Saans Utopia Studio in Salt Lake this week. Kate did some great business shots for us over at the office and then she had rented this Egyptian costume and wanted some fun shot of it. We had a great time!

Stalin's Dossier

Monday night I joined Renee Lee for an awesome shoot over at Midnight Records. This month the band Stalin’s Dossier is being featured in Slug Magazine and was recording at Midnight records. They needed a photo for the article and Renee had setup the shoot with Kent Rigby at midnightrecordstudio.com on Main Street downtown Salt Lake City. The band sounded killer and we got some great shots before we wrapped for the night. It was good times!

Temple Grounds

I never tire of photographing areas downtown and Salt Lake City temple square is no exception. I was intrigued with the north side of the temple grounds as the sun dropped low on the horizon and grazed the grass and trees with a warm glow.

The above photo was one of a couple dozen images I captured while strolling across the grounds. The Tabernacle was open as visitors streamed inside for The Orchestra at Temple Square presentation of A Spring Concert. I’m anxious for the arrival of warm and sunny afternoons and the budding gardens … bring on the Spring!

Met this weekend with a great photographer Renee Lee who was doing a killer shoot at her studio downtown. She had put together this shoot with a friend who is a gifted makup artist and the beautiful model shown in this image I snapped. It was great to view another photographer in her element and I always enjoy watching how other artists approach their subjects and put together the overall composition. It was fun times!

Color my Capitol!

Posted in Uncategorized on March 8, 2008 by kcrewphotography

Hey friends! I am still working through Will and Stephanie’s wedding pics from last weekend but I thought I would share this fun photo I snapped during the week at sundown.

Mid-week I slipped up to the Capitol in Salt lake to scout out good spots for Bridals or Engagements onsite. The sun and clouds decided to cooperate and displayed this memorable backdrop to the scene. The Capitol has some great locations indoor and out for a photo shoot so don’t hesitate to drop me a line and schedule your next session and we could work this fun area into your shoot.

Thanks for stopping by!

Weekend Roadtrip …

This last weekend was a blast! I had the privilege of shooting Will and Stephanie’s wedding, which was awesome. They had a great time and wonderful families and I’m working through their photos and will post a few of my favorites soon (stay tuned).

After the wedding I choose to take the long way home and loop up into Idaho and then down through western Utah and Nevada and cut back across the Salt Flats and just scout out any fun places to shoot. I must say, I found some gems on this roadtrip! Check out the photo below from this great area near City of Rocks National Park in southern Idaho.

Castle Rock - Idaho

Pretty incredible sunrise isn’t it? This little gem of a spot was off the beaten path about an hour southeast of Burley, Idaho. I had camped the night before just under Castle Rock which is at the base of those mountains in the background. Here is a fun little shot of the actual sunrise from my camp area.

Did I mention it was cold?? It dropped under 20 the night prior so I was glad to be bundled up in my thermals and winter gear. It warmed somewhat but was a far cry from the 40-50 degree weather we saw last week. Well spring is sure to be here soon and I imagine this is a great spot for summer visits as well.

On the way to this location I spent the day in a little town called Oakley which has a nice collection of historical homes from the late 1800’s and early 1900 period. The homes were constructed in a Victorian style architecture and made for some great pictures as well. I’ll try and get some shots up from the tour of Oakley later this week after I finish processing the pictures from the wedding and another family shoot I did last week. Till then … enjoy the gallery on my www.flickr.com site as there are many other images to browse through. Thanks for the visit!
